The
Classic RT design originally entered service in 1939 and 150 of
them served in London during World War II. Production resumed at
the end of hostilities and eventually 7000 of the buses supplied
almost the entire London bus network.
They formed one of the greatest standardised fleets ever assembled
in the world. Withdrawn from London service by 1979 they remain
a timeless and nostalgic link to a different way of life.
Cravens
RT 1431
This RT is one of a rare batch of only 120 that were built by Cravens
of Sheffield.
They were built to a pre-war design and therefore
have a more dated appearance. This bus entering service in 1949
and is only one of two known survivors from this batch. It returned
to passenger carrying duties after restoration in January 2005,
a break of nearly 50 years from the capital.
This is an ideal vehicle for period scenes within the film industry.
Alternatively, this bus attracts attention and favourable comments
should you choose to use it for your wedding day or special occasion.
